CS Stadium update + AMA questions

Key Takeaways

Hey everyone!

We’re back with a new update and this time we’re going to focus on the Counter-Strike Stadium.

As you already know, we announced CS as the next game coming to the Virtex Stadium.

During the last year, we’ve been working together with Skybox to bring together the two technologies in the arena.

But how does it work? It’s actually pretty simple!

We take the data from a past/live match. We transmit it into the exact same map that’s been replicated and built in UE5. We are essentially running an exact copy of the match in our Stadium, which makes it possible to experience it in 3D.

THE USER EXPERIENCE

As a viewer, you will have access to the Stadium seats, as well as the possibility to teleport your avatar into the map and enjoy the game however you like. You won’t have to move or rotate the map in front of you— that will be the production broadcast/observer’s job.

While sitting in the Arena, you can talk with your friends and cheer together for your team.

You can customize settings to your preference, such as the option to only hear your party (if you are in with a group of people) or just hear the crowd and the people around you.

Teleporting into the map is another story. Imagine being right next to your favorite player while they are clutching, allowing you to see all their moves up close and in real time.

AMA ANSWERS

If you are part of our Discord Community you were probably there last week when our founders run the first demo in the live AMA, but if you weren’t there, fear not! Here’s a collection of the best Questions and Answers from the event:

In what ways can people interact inside Virtex? What are the biggest differences from being on the stadium in VR/PC?

People can interact with each other with emotes, and consumables on top of actually speaking and communicating

What was the most challenging part of developing Virtex?

There are a lot of moving parts, but the 3D recreation and live-streaming content are among the hardest challenges

Are you guys ever going to add breachers? With the rising popularity of it, i think it would be a really cool addition to Virtex!

Always interested in adding new titles - integrating new games isn’t a simple task, so it’s a lot of work (tech, partnership with game publishers, and studios). We’re always happy to hear what games people want to see in Virtex. We also need to be rational around the games that we port: is the audience big enough?

Will there be a delay when broadcasting in your app and the official broadcasts? If so, what kind of delay?

Getting content from a Twitch stream takes some time and as well as synchronizing it for a big number of people.

Can this be used with matchmaking (spectate a friend’s game for example)?

No, this is a tool to watch live esports and can only be enabled by tournament organizers on their own content.

Will production be done by Virtex, or will the TO be handling that? Who owns that part of production in case of events?

Designed for TOs to handle the production.

Is there a shop in the game, you can dress the character, will there be exclusive items from tournaments and other types of stuff?

Yes, there will be a shop, it’s being worked on but as of now, it’s not ready.

Are any CS:GO casters going to be using the stadium? What I'm asking is basically, can I be in Virtex and suddenly see Anders or Machine and Spunj walking by lol?

Never say never, players or talents could surely happen, meet and greet and other ways to interact with fans could be some examples.
